Once the faceplate was loose, I rotated it until the lock button hole lined up with the each screw and removed them both.

First the bottom screw was removed . . .

Then the opposite side of the handle . . . . Remember to hold onto both sides of the handle as you remove the second screw as the handles may fall to the floor and do damage to the flooring.
